Coached the Fort Worth Panther Boy’s Club and Burford Aquatic Club 1952-1970. Coached UT Arlington to National prominence from 1966-1970.His 1969 team finished 2nd in the NCAA Championships.  In 1968 he had four swimmers make the Finals of the US Olympic Trials, where two of them, Doug Russell and Ronnie Mills, made the US Team.  27 years as North Carolina State’ head coach.
