Born in Burnet, Texas, Landtroop is the winningest coach in UIL swimming history. He coached at five High Schools, primarily Clear Lake High School and Kingwood. His dual meet record was 543-15-2, his teams won 67 district championships, 16 championships, two state water polo titles and 3 Swimming World National Championships. Awards include TISCA coach of the year 18 times, National Federation COY, Texas High School Swimming Coach of the 20th Century, NISCA Hall of Fame, NISCA Collegiate Scholastic Award. He is a three-time TISCA President and two-time NISCA president. Landtroop continues to be a well-sought after speaker at state, national and world clinics.
