A native of San Antonio, Davis was a multiple-time TAGS champion for Alamo Area Aquatics and lead Churchill High School to four state titles. At Churchill he was also the individual champion in the 200-yard freestyle in 1988, '89, and '90. He then went on to the University of Texas where he earned 23 all-American honors, was a member of the 1991 NCAA championship team, and was the NCAA champion in the 200-yard freestyle. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Davis was the only male athlete in any sport to win three gold medals. In 2000 he was the team captain at the Sydney Olympics and won two silver medals. He is now a successful motivational speaker and sports commentator.
