Born and raised in Germany during WWII, Schultz competed in diving for many years, eventually representing Germany in the 1952 Olympics. She married and immigrated to the United States in 1957 where she became the executive director of the Dad's Club and coached diving for 30 years. She became a force in Texas and U.S. diving as a fierce promoter of age group diving and the development of youth programs. She never retired from coaching, training students until passing in 2008 at age 84.

Recently Kuni's son Sven added a video on his team's website dedicated to remembering his mom and carrying on her good work.
